What Do We Assess?
At the heart of our comprehensive evaluation process, our evaluations assess a spectrum of language skills crucial for success in academic settings. We delve into receptive and expressive language abilities, phonological processing, narrative comprehension, writing, spelling, and vocabulary development. Through a combination of standardized tests and clinical observations, we offer a nuanced understanding of a child's language profile.
Phonics & Phonological Skills
We investigate how well a child recognizes and manipulates speech sounds, which forms the basis of reading and spelling abilities and are crucial skills for academic success.
Reading & Writing Abilities
We take an in-depth look at all levels of reading and writing to determine the core source of any weaknesses, and look at the impact it has on higher level skills.
Language & Comprehension
We assess a child's capacity to articulate thoughts coherently, formulate sentences with correct grammar and syntax, and convey ideas effectively, as well as their understanding of these things.
Emotional & Historical Context
Often overlooked, we examine the emotional impact deficits have on a child's school performance and social success. We include a thorough case history and review developmental milestones and previous treatment.
